THE PROBLEM

Hi, i would like to share my experiences with everyone out there who has hair loss problem. I know, it sucks. In fact I started having hair loss at age 21 and it was deteriorating pretty fast. I practically noticed myself going bald on the frontal and top area of my head. I really felt troubled and helpless about it. It really affected my self esteem a lot especially when all my friends my age have a full head of hair. To make things worse, friends were making fun of me about my hair.

Im going to share with you what are the products I tried to regrow loss hair what worked and what does not. Im not saying that the things I tried don’t work and is useless. It did not work for me, but maybe it did for others.

Hopefully my experience will help someone to find hairloss treatments that suits them. The earlier you find a cure the more hair you save!! Yay!!

THE SEARCH FOR CURE PART 1

Being anxious and troubled, i began searching for a cure to regrow loss hair. I started on putting brandy on my head. (It was a pretty common rumor that brandy when applied to the scalp is a hairloss cure) . That didn’t help!!! In fact it made my scalp itch! Next thing i tried was to use ginger to rub on my scalp. I saw this on a TV show that it helps blood circulation. Did this for awhile, didn’t work either.

I went the the pharmacy and saw this product regaine. It was a menthol liquid which gives the scalp a refreshing cool feeling when applied. The cool menthol feeling gives an impression that it is helping. I probably used this for about a year or two. Didn’t really help much, i was still losing hair and fast!! To be fair although i was unable to see any improvements, it probably helped slow down my hairs loss. Then a friend of mine recommended me to visit a traditional chinese trichologist centre. I went there for consultation and the sales person convinced me to sign up a hair treatment package costing $3000!!! (This was a lot of money to me at that time as i just started working) I was convinced that this will end the hairs loss misery i was suffering from. I had to go for treatment weekly and was still required to pay for stuff like shampoo and some herbal hair tonic. I went there continuously for several months. Didn’t really see any improvements at all. I began to lose heart again and began looking for an alternative solution.

THE SEARCH FOR CURE PART 2

I was walking past this clinic one day and saw a poster regarding hair loss, out of curiosity, i went in and consult the doctor about my problem. What i was recommended was a product called Regro, it is actually minoxidil 3%. One of the approved drugs by FDA for hair growth. Used it for about six months and did see some improvements. Hair loss was reduced and i noticed some fine hair growing. But it also came with its problems, the solution was drying up my scalp and i can see my scalp flaking and it was causing some itchiness. During the day, this was fine but somehow i would unconsciously scratch my scalp very hard during my sleep. This again caused me to lose quite a bit of hair.

THE WORKING SOLUTION

It was only after enduring 7 cruel years of hair loss when i finally found something that works for me. A friend of my advised me to visit a specialist regarding my hair loss problem. I was recommended a product call propecia which is basically 1mg tablets of finasteride. As I mentioned earlier, propecia is also one of the approved drugs by FDA for hair growth. I had to take a tablet a day and on top of this, I also continued to use regrow (minoxidil) but this time the doctor prescribes me a 5% dosage. This combination worked pretty well for me, within 2-3 months I was seeing significant results. My hair became thicker in the balding areas. Many of my friends also noticed my hair growth.

Although I still have the problem of my scalp drying up and causing itchiness, I bought myself a big brush with rounded tips. Everyday after showering, I would apply regrow to my hair. After it dries out, I would use the big brush to comb my hair, gently brushing my scalp for about 40-50 times. I am not sure of the logic but this somehow cured the problem of my scalp drying out.

I hope my will give people an idea on what works and what don’t. Hopefully you too can find the answer to your woes.
